Stoner Trail Self-Storage

Helpful hints for safe storage

  1. Plan your space. Allow for walkways. Place items you may need to access often in the front.
  2. Make an inventory of your stored items and keep it in a safe place.
  3. Use uniform size boxes for ease of stacking. Use sturdy boxes and don't overfill. Boxes are available in our office.
  4. Place your storage boxes on 2x4s or pallets to guard against dampness.
  5. List contents of boxes on all four sides, number the boxes, and seal with tape.
  6. Stack lighter boxes on top of heavier boxes.
  7. Dishes and other breakables should be wrapped in paper and stored in sturdy boxes.
  8. Pictures and mirros should be wrapped in cardboard, labeled as "fragile" and stacked on end.
  9. Furniture with drawers make excellent storage cases for small knick-knacks, silverware, and pictures.
  10. Large appliances can make good "packing cases" for blankets, towels, tablecloths and clothes.
  11. Cover upholstered furniture to protect from dust.
  12. Mattresses stacked on end should be propped up to prevent them from sagging and becoming lumpy.
  13. Tables with removeable legs can be "broken down" to save space.
  14. Do not store anything COMBUSTIBLE (i.e., paint thinner, gasoline, solvents, paint, etc.)
  15. Rent the smallest amount of space you need and pack it full.
  16. Use a good quality lock on your door. Cheap locks rust and do not provide good security for your belongings. Locks are available in our office.
